Minalliance is an organization that brings together the Québec Mineral Exploration Association (AEMQ) and the Québec Mining Association (QMA), as well as companies involved in mine exploration, operation and services, equipment suppliers, and financial institutions. Minalliance’s mandate is to make the general public more aware of the mineral industry and to highlight the industry’s contribution to the growth of Québec and its regions, integrating economic, social and environmental aspects. Its mission is to enter into dialogue with the public in order to further increase the transparency of the mining industry and demonstrate its contribution to the sustainable development of Québec. Centraide (United Way) Abitibi Témiscamingue et Nord-du-Québec
Centraide–United Way is a worldwide organization that aims “to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good”.
The campaigns of Centraide Abitibi Témiscamingue et Nord-du-Québec (Centraide ATNQ) raise money for local groups that address community issues and problems primarily focused on poverty, homelessness, and families or individuals in crisis or need, in partnership with social, community and economic organizations in the region.
Stornoway is proud to be the sponsor/partner of Centraide Abitibi Témiscamingue et Nord-du-Québec for the annual Golf Tournament, an event that launches the annual fundraising campaign in northern Québec. Stornoway has been the major partner for this event since 2011. On August 28, 2014, the Stornoway Golf Tournament for the benefit of Centraide, Centraide ATNQ and Stornoway succeeded in raising $40,000. Manoir Pierre-Guérette is an establishment of the Chapais community, hosting people with low income and a loss of independence. Manoir Pierre-Guérette includes 16 housing units and was opened in 2014. Stornoway has financially contributed $10,000 to support the construction of this community infrastructure.
